SHPC Guidelines for In-Person Worship

SHPC Guidelines for In-Person Worship

Friends, we are glad you are considering worshiping in person at SHPC again. We realize that many are eager to do so, so we thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we try to balance our Spirit-led desire to gather to praise the Lord with our responsibility to show care for each other in taking some precautions as we gather for worship. Below are a few things that you can expect as you gather for worship, as well as what would be expected of you.

You can register for one of our Sunday worship services by clicking one of the options at the bottom of this page.

Attending In-Person Worship

8:30 Worship will be outside on the front lawn under the Magnolia tree.

11:00 Worship will be held in the Sanctuary. We are limiting our service to 50 people (including worship leaders).

Please register online by using the button at the bottom of this form. By registering you are confirming that you have not been around anyone who has tested positive to COVID-19 in the past 14 days, you have not traveled internationally, and that you do not have any of the following symptoms that is not attributable to another condition: cough, shortness of breath, or at least two of these symptoms: fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.

8:30 Worship: Masks are encouraged for the 8:30 Service.

11:00 Worship:  Masks are required for the 11:00 Service and must be worn at all times. We will have a limited supply for those who are unable to provide their own. Children under 3 are not required to wear a mask.

Social Distancing

For 8:30 and 11:00 Worship Services: Please observe social distancing at all times by maintaining a 6-foot distance from others. Please refrain from hugging, shaking hands, high fives, fist bumps, or any other form of close contact.

Individuals over 65 or with any type of compromised immune system are encouraged to continue utilizing our livestream.

Illness and Screening

8:30 and 11:00 Worship Services: If you are sick or exhibiting symptoms, have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have traveled internationally, please stay home and worship via livestream instead.

11:00 Worship Service: All individuals will be asked the screening questions listed in the In-Person Worship/Registration information.

Children and Students

Until further notice, children and students will not be gathering in person. Virtual church activities will continue along with the addition of some off-site activities (please see the Youth page on our website).

We regret that childcare during worship will not be available at this time, but children of all ages are welcome to remain with their households for the duration of the worship service.

8:30 Worship: There will be no access to the church building during 8:30 Service.

11:00 Worship: The restrooms in the hallway between the Sanctuary and Spitzer Education Building will open in the case of an emergency. We suggest you do as your mother always said and go before you leave home. All areas except the Sanctuary and the restrooms noted above will be unavailable. Water fountains, coffee pots/Keurigs, and doughnuts will also be unavailable.

The areas utilized on Sunday mornings will be deep-cleaned every week.

Sanctuary, Seating, and Service

8:30 and 11:00 Worship: For everyone’s safety, please refrain from singing out loud.

8:30 Worship: Please bring a lawn chair(s) or blanket(s) with you to the Service, remembering that your household should be at least six feet from any other household.

11:00 Worship: The balcony will be closed. To maintain social distancing, every other pew will be closed. Bulletins will be located in each available pew. Once you have chosen an available pew, please remain where you are seated. Ushers will dismiss by rows to allow for proper distancing.

Please do not congregate once you have left a Worship Service.
